What personal data we collect and why we collect it
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the blog, we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Registration forms
Name, Contact (email or phone) and ASCM ID number are collected when you register to classes and events and that information can be maintained in the distribution lists to keep you informed of future education, networking and plant tour events
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on the blog may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Payment Information
We don’t keep payment information. We leave the payments process to professionals, every time you submit a payment we re-direct you to PayPal, which is our payment gateway, since they have all the tools to keep your information safe. We don’t share your data with any other organization.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website, we also store the personal information listed under “Registration Forms”. We keep this information in our mail service (Constant Contact) unless it returns an invalid response or until you request your data to be removed.
What rights you have over your data
If you have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you.
You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. You can unsubscribe from our Constant Contact emails or request by emailing to our Board of Directors. Once your data is removed, Constant Contact keeps an anonimized email address is kept in the “Do Not Send” list.
